Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes a fifth amendment to the existing contract (#9156) for the Wingra Proper Watershed Study by extending the contract term to December 30, 2026, with no additional costs.

 

The original contract was approved via RES-22-00335 on May 10, 2022 (Legistar #70938), for a total amount of $195,558. Amendment 1 approved on November 26,2024 via RES-24-00671 (Legistar #85813) increased the budget to $198,312. Amendment 2 approved via RES-25-00398 (Legistar #88861), on July 15, 2025, extended the contract period to February 9, 2026. Amendment 3 approved via RES-26-00050 (Legistar #91450) on January 27, 2026, further extended the contract period to June 30, 2026. Amendment 4 approved via RES-26-00286 (Legistar #92933) on May 19, 2026, increased the total contract amount to $207,698 and extended the contract period to September 30, 2026.

 

Funding is available in the 2026 Adopted Stormwater Utility Operating Budget to support flood studies (13323-84-200-84000). No additional appropriation is required.

Body

The City of Madison Engineering Division is conducting watershed and flood studies as a result of extreme rain events over the past several years. The City entered into an agreement with Brown and Caldwell for engineering services related to flooding evaluation in the Wingra Proper Watershed (RES-22-00335). This proposed amendment extends the contract period to December 30, 2026.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an Amendment 5 to the contract between the City of Madison and Brown and Caldwell to extend the contract term for the Wingra Proper Watershed.
