Preamble

On February 17, 2005 the City of Madison, State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WDOT) and HNTB Corporation (HNTB)entered into a contract to prepare final plans and specifications for the East Washington Avenue segments 3 and 4 and for the Starkweather Creek Bike Path from the existing Starkweather Creek Bike Path north of Aberg Avenue to Darbo Drive. This segment of path included two pedestrian bridges, one over East Washington Avenue and one over Aberg Avenue.

It was anticipated at the time that the contract was executed that the WDOT would design the pedestrian bridges with their staff. The WDOT has asked to be relieved of the assignment to design the Aberg Avenue Pedestrian Bridge because of a lack of available staff. In addition, several retaining walls are required on the project that were not initially anticipated. This amendment authorizes HNTB to design the Aberg Avenue Pedestrian Bridge and the additional retaining walls.

NOW THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are here by authorized to execute an amendment to the present agreement between the City of Madison, State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation and HNTB Corporation, entitled, East Washington Avenue (Blair Street to Thierer...
