This resolution would authorize the acceptance of a Department of Natural Resources grant not to exceed $17,825. The City will provide a match of approximately $900 for installation of the equipment and the provision of periodic reports to the DNR. Matching funds are available in the adopted budget. No additional appropriation is required. There is no impact upon cost controls or the tax levy.

Body
WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has awarded a grant to the City of Madison Motor Equipment division to purchase certain diesel oxidation catalyst retrofit equipment (mufflers) for non-road equipment; and
WHEREAS, the DNR project is funded by a US Environmental Protection Agency Cooperative Agreement; and
WHEREAS, under this Agreement, the City will use the grant money to purchase the equipment and agrees to install and use the equipment through at least October 31, 2007, and during this time will provide reports to the DNR and follow other procedures in order to assist the State in evaluating the equipment, which may include using the retrofit equipment for a period of up to five years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign, on behalf of the City, a grant agreement with the DNR, which includes accepting $17,825 from the DNR to purchase the above-described equipment, and also includes other terms and conditions of participating in this program, for a term through October 31, 2007.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the 2006 Motor Equipment Operating Budget is amended by the following amounts:
