Board of Park Commissioners granting access to Madison Gas and Electric Company to install and maintain an Underground Electric Easement across a portion of Glen Oak Hills Park, located at 301 Glen Highway

On January 19, 2021, Common Council adopted RES-21-00047 (Legislative File ID #62498) the “Authorizing administrative approval and execution of documents granting, accepting, altering or releasing certain easements or recorded property interests by the City.” This resolution is intended to streamline processes for routine, non-controversial property matters related to easements and other property rights that are deemed in the best interest of the public good and approved by the City Department Head and area Alder.
Madison Gas and Electric Company (“MG&E”) is upgrading certain facilities located in the vicinity of Glen Oak Hills Park at 301 Glen Highway. MG&E has requested an Underground Electric Easement to be located along the northwest boundary of the Property, in the location identified in Exhibit A (“Easement Area”); and
City of Madison Parks Division, Engineering Division and Real Estate staff have reviewed and approve of the granting of said easement in accordance with conditions defined within the easement. The easement area is located near mature trees, and conditions have been defined to protect the trees, which may result in increased public interest. The Board of Park Commissioners is asked to review the request due to the location and visibility of the project. Staff recommend that the Board of Park Commissioners authorizes the execution of an Underground Electric Easement to Madison Gas and Electric Company across a portion of Glen Oak Hills Park, located at 301 Glen Highway.
Pending authorization from the Board of Park Commissioners, the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the Underground Electric Easement attached hereto as Exhibit B, substantially on the terms, conditions and obligations contained there...
