Commending and honoring the work of Rebecca Kasemeyer, City of Madison Arts Administrator.
Body
Whereas, Rebecca Kasemeyer started her employment with the City on January 2, 2001 and her last official day of employment was July 14, 2006; and,
Whereas, during her tenure she was instrumental in taking the City's municipal arts program to a higher level; and,
Whereas, one of her greatest accomplishments was promoting the idea of "art in city buildings" by getting people to think about and integrating public art into a variety of public projects including:
·      The gates at Goodman Pool
·      The fountains on the Square
·      The "Philosopher's Grove" at the top of State Street
·      Leading the design competition for the State Street bus shelters
·      The public space on State Street in front of Overture
·      The sculpture outside the entrance to the new Water Utility Building
·      The sculpture on Broadway at Bridge Road
Whereas, she also served as the City's point person for most of the Sesquicentennial activities,

Now, therefore be it resolved, that the Mayor and Madison Common Council commend and honor the work of Rebecca Kasemeyer, City of Madison Arts Administrator and wish her luck in her future endeavors.
