Fiscal Note
The 2006 Executive Public Health Operating Budget contains a total of $80,657 in salary and benefits to support the City's half of the Director's compensation package. This amount may therefore be made available for transfer to Dane County for the support of this position. No additional appropriation is anticipated at this time.

Confirming the appointment of Thomas L. Schlenker, M.D. to the position of Unified Public Health Director subject to the appointment and execution of an Employment Agreement.
Body
Whereas, Mayor Cieslewicz and County Executive Falk have appointed Thomas L. Schlenker, M.D. to the position of Unified Public Health Director and have recommended to the Joint Board of Health, the Common Council and the Dane County Board of Supervisors that his appointment be confirmed;
Whereas, the parties have reached an accord on the terms and conditions of an Employment Agreement between the Joint Board of Public Health and Dr. Schlenker, whereby Dr. Schlenker will start this appointment; and
Whereas, the Unified Public Health Director will be an employee of Dane County, pursuant to the choice given to the Director in the Intergovernmental Agreement between the City and the County (IGA);
Now therefore, be it resolved that Dr. Schlenker's appointment to the position of Unified Public Health Director is hereby confirmed, and pursuant to the IGA, the City concurs that the County Executive is authorized to execute an Employment Agreement between Dane County and Dr. Schlenker for service to the Madison Department of Public Health, the Dane County Division of Health, and the Joint Board of Health, on a form subject to approval of the City Attorney.
