Report of CCOC Sister Cities Grant Subcommittee - 2006 Final Report & Recommendations for 2006 Sister City Grant Program.

The Common Council Organizational Committee recommended three members to the CCOC Sister Cities Grant Review Subcommittee for the 2006 grant process - Ald. Lauren Cnare, Ald. Santiago Rosas and Ald. Paul Van Rooy (chair). The Common Council approved the appointments on January 17, 2006. The subcommittee was charged with the conducing the annual grant review and funding recommendations for City of Madison Sister Cities.
The subcommittee met on February 15, 2006 to review the applications and to make funding recommendations. Linda Lewis of the Mayor's Office provided the mailing and receipt assistance for the program. The approved forms and materials were mailed to the established sister cities January 17, 2006 with a receipt deadline of February 13, 2006.
Nine (9) Sister Cities Annual Base Level Reports and applications were received for the competitive grant portion of the program (see TABLE WITH FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS). There are currently ten (10) sister city agreements in place. Bac Giang, Viet Nam did not apply for annual funding or the grant funds. The newest sistering relationship is with Obihiro, Japan.
