Funds for this Professional Services Agreement are included in the 2007 Water Utility Capital Budget - Project #11, not to exceed $50,000 for the pilot study.

SUBSTITUTE - Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Earth Tech, Inc. for the completion of a filter pilot study for a three million gallon per day iron and manganese removal filter and associated buildings and equipment for Unit Well 29 (3rd AD).
Body
WHEREAS: Iron and manganese water quality issues at Unit Well 29 require treatment and removal; and
WHEREAS: Madison Water Utility wishes to conduct a filter pilot study in preparation for planning, designing and constructing a three million gallon per day iron and manganese removal filter at Well 29 to provide high quality water to area residents; and
WHEREAS: The decision to proceed with design and construction of a filter will be dependent on this and other studies to be reported to the Board of Water Commissioners and the Common Council; and
WHEREAS: Madison Water Utility has budgeted funds in the 2007 Capital Budget to conduct a filter pilot study, to design the filter, and for construction; and
WHEREAS: Madison Water Utility has advertised for consultant services, received and evaluated proposals, and negotiated a Professional Services Agreement;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Earth Tech, Inc.of Stevens Point WI for site planning, facility design, preparation of drawings and specifications, bidding services and construction administration for Madison Water Utility Unit Well 29 Iron and Manganese removal filter.
