Fiscal Note
As stated in the Employment Agreement between the City of Madison and David Schmiedicke, the Finance Department director’s salary will be based on a total annualized rate of $211,079 effective August 2, 2026. The Finance Department director position is approved and funded in the 2026 Adopted Operating Budget. No additional appropriation required.

Submitting the appointment of David Schmiedicke for confirmation of a five-year term as Finance Director.
Body
WHEREAS, the Mayor has appointed David Schmiedicke to the position of Finance Director and has recommended to the Common Council that their appointment be confirmed; and,
WHEREAS, the parties have reached an accord on the terms and conditions of an Employment Agreement between the City and David Schmiedicke;
NOW THEREFORE, be resolved that David Schmiedicke’s appointment to the position of Finance Director is hereby confirmed, and the Mayor and the City Clerk’s Office are authorized to execute an Employment Agreement between the City and David Schmiedicke.
