PREAMBLE

 

The City, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing to construct safety improvements on West Washington Avenue between Proudfit Street and Bedford Street.  The project includes: 1) Geometric modifications and foundations for installation of barrier gates at the WSOR railroad crossing, as ordered by the Office of Commissioner of Railroads on 2/04/03; 2) Narrowing the roadways and widening the median at the location of the future crossing of the Southwest Bike Path; and 3) Construction of a two-way left turn lane and dedicated left turn lanes for  West Washington Ave. traffic at Bedford Street  The project will be constructed by WisDOT using federal funds for a portion of project costs.

 

A previous Resolution (No. 60720, ID 32961) was adopted July 6, 2004 authorizing a cost sharing agreement with Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the construction of this project.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifications for the West Washington Avenue safety improvements from Proudfit Street to Bedford Street are hereby approved.
