Title: Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign a Distributed Generation Interconnection Agreement with Madison Gas and Electric Company and authorizing indemnification of MG&E, for PVG sites at East Streets Maintenance Facility on 4602 Sycamore Ave
Sponsors: Joseph R. Clausius
Fiscal Note
Under this program, MG&E will buy back the photovoltaic (PV)-generated power at the rate of 25 ct/kWh instead of the regular rate of 11 ct/kWh. This will result in a decrease in the annual utility costs of approximately $2,875 annually.

Since the PV system at East Streets is being funded by the Landfill Remediation Fund, the revenue generated by selling back the PV-generated power will offset the cost of electricity at the adjacent Sycamore Landfill. The 2011 budget for electricity at Sycamore Landfill is $11,060 so this PV program is estimated to reduce costs by 26%.

No City funds are required.
