Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes an agreement to purchase software used for traffic sign printing. No costs are associated with the purchase in 2022, but the software has an annual subscription cost of $720 starting in 2023. Costs associated with the subscription would be included in future Traffic Engineering budget requests.

To authorize a license grant to SA International, Inc and to authorize IT Director to enter into an agreement with SA International, Inc. to purchase the Flexi software for Traffic Engineering sign printing.
Body
Whereas, the City of Madison wishes to purchase Flexi software from SA International Inc. to be used by Traffic Engineering to print City traffic signs, and
Whereas, the software purchase agreement requires the City, as the software user, to grant a license to SA International granting certain intellectual property rights to the City’s data and information that the software uses to print the signs, and
Whereas, because the sole purpose for which the software will be used by the City is printing standard traffic signs, City staff has determined that granting the license will not harm the City’s interests,
Now therefore be it Resolved, that the Common Council of the City of Madison authorizes a license grant to SA International, Inc. for the above mentioned reasons, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney, and the City of Madison IT Director or their designee , is authorized enter into the agreement with SA International, Inc. to purchase the Flexi software.
