Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes a four-year agreement, with CrossFit, Inc. at Olin Park Boat Launch. The agreement sets the terms and conditions upon which the City will allow CrossFit, Inc. to close and use the Olin Park Boat Launch for the production of the CrossFit Games. In addition to the special event fees established during the application and review process, CrossFit, Inc. will pay the City $24,000 over the term of the agreement, $6,000 in each year 2020 through 2023. The Parks Division 2020 operating budget includes revenue for this event (Munis 51110-43522).

WHEREAS, the CrossFit Games (“Event”) is a premier international competition that was first hosted in Madison at the Alliant Energy Center in 2017, and since then has rapidly become a signature local activity that is enjoyed by the local community, and that attracts tourism and economic development to the City; and,
WHEREAS, User has indicated that it will continue to hold the Event in Madison from 2020-2023; and,
WHEREAS, the Event has been, and will continue to be, staged, in part, within Olin-Turville Park, the use of which will be subject to various other City permits; and,
WHEREAS, User previously entered into a Boat Launch Closure and Use Agreement for the Events in 2017-2019 allowing it to use the Olin Park boat launch area (the “Boat Launch Area”) for the Event, the closure and use of which allows for a successful competition, improved Event operations, and competitor and pedestrian safety in the Olin-Turville Park area during the Event; and,
