WHEREAS, Ald. Ken Golden recognized the need for the Common Council not to take itself seriously at all times; and,
 
WHEREAS, Ald. Ken Golden presented resolutions throughout his tenure that reflected his humor and wit; and,
 
WHEREAS, the following pieces of legislation were created by Ald. Ken Golden for Common Council consideration:
 
March 17, 1998       
Designating Madison's lakes Monona, Mendota and Wingra as "Great Lakes"
 
July 18, 2000            
Directing the Mayor to gauge and solicit interest from businesses involved with gerbils and gerbil-related products and determine if there is a market for naming Monona Terrace "gerbil tube" after a local or national business.
 
April 8, 2003
To let the Dixie Chicks know that they can become the adopted country music group of Madison, Wisconsin and encouraging them to change their name to the Heartland Chicks or the Dairyland Chicks.

Proclaiming Pluto as Madison's ninth planet,
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Common Council recognize Ald. Ken Golden's contributions in providing levity on the Council floor by duly appointing him Ambassador to Pluto.
