Sufficient Federal CDBG funds are available in the CDBG Office's 2009 Adopted Operating Budget (Project # 47, "Reserve Funds") to cover the costs of this project.
Title
Approve the provision of $71,850 in CDBG funds to the Madison Metropolitan School District for space and operating costs at the Meadowood Neighborhood Center, 5734 Raymond Road.
Body
The Madison Metropolitan School District, through Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR), has been providing social, recreational and educational opportunities for residents of the Meadowood Neighborhood at 5734 Raymond Road since March 2009. The services provided at the Meadowood Neighborhood Center have been well received and used by people of all ages in the neighborhood.
WHEREAS, operation of the Meadowood Neighborhood Center was a pilot project in 2009, funded in part with Emerging Neighborhood Funds from the City of Madison; and,
WHEREAS, operation of this neighborhood center should continue as a more permanent service with future funding considered in conjunction with all City authorized funding to neighborhood centers; and,
WHEREAS, CDBG Office staff and the CDBG Committee have reviewed this proposal and find that it furthers the goals expressed in the 2005-2009 Five-Year Community and Neighborhood Development Plan and the 2009 Community Action Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council authorizes $71,850 in Federal CDBG funds for operating costs for the Meadowood Neighborhood Center at 5734 Raymond Road, and authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute and deliver any documents necessary to accomplish the purposes of this Resolution.
