Fiscal Note
In the adopted 2016 operating budget, the Water Utility budgeted for the estimated cost of the professional services for the work of the Water Master Plan specified in the proposed resolution.
The proposed resolution authorizes the execution of the agreement in an amount not to exceed $175,000.

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute a Professional Services Agreement with SEH Inc. for the comprehensive update of the Madison Water Utility - Water Master Plan.
Body
WHEREAS, Since 1964 Madison Water Utility has used a Water Master Plan to guide development and expansion of the drinking water system; and
WHEREAS, the plan is updated and revised every 5 to 10 years to keep it current with development trends, water system service standards, and utility reinvestment goals; and
WHEREAS, the Master Plan was last fully updated in 2006 and is due for an update; and
WHEREAS, the Utility has completed the installation of an automated metering system that will significantly improve input data and water demand information for the Utility’s distribution system model; and
WHEREAS, the Utility is dedicated to water conservation and infrastructure renewal and desires to formulate a long term plan around these goals; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility has advertised for, received, and evaluated proposals for the work, and based on the recommendation of the proposal review committee, the Water Utility Board has selected SEH Inc. for this work;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute a Professional Services Agreement not to exceed $175,000 with SEH Inc. for professional services for the comprehensive updating of the Utility Water Master Plan.
