Fiscal Note
This Vision Document for Allied sets forth some goals that will guide future staff and Council decisions regarding City activities in a City neighborhood. As such it does not approve additional levels of City financial resources; any additional levels would require specific Council review and approval.

AMENDED - Accepting the Vision Document for the Allied Community as presented by the Mayor.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison is committed to improving the quality of life in each of its neighborhoods, and recognizes that some areas of the city face certain challenges of higher mobility, lower income, higher proportions of people with some special needs, troubled housing stock, and other public improvement needs; and
WHEREAS, previous Mayors and Councils have sponsored several neighborhood improvement efforts focused on 'challenged neighborhoods' and have successfully worked with residents, businesses, neighborhood and community-based groups to improve public safety, housing, health and human services, and access to resources in areas such as Williamson Street, Atwood, Bridge-Lakepoint, Darbo-Worthington, and Vera Court; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the District Alder have held several meetings with neighborhood residents, stakeholders and other people interested in the well being of Allied; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has discussed issues facing the Allied-Bel-Mar area with the Madison Metropolitan School District, the City of Fitchburg, and Dane County, and they have agreed to take certain coordinated actions to address those issues; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has worked with City staff to review neighborhood conditions and trends, and directed the formation of several City staff teams to develop and implement coordinated improvement activities as those activities are approved by the Council; and
