Request to Discontinue "Council Clippers" - Lisa Veldran, Administrative Assistant

I am requesting that Council office staff discontinue the function of clipping articles from local newspapers, scanning the articles and putting them on-line for Council members to view.
This function was originally started in 1997 with staff clipping articles and copying them for alders. A scanner was purchased and a website created in 2000 and copying the articles was discontinued.
A poll of alders has indicated the following:
8 alders do not access the "Council Clippers"
2 alders do access the "Council Clippers"
10 alders did not respond to the poll
The last article entry on the "Council Clippers" web page is dated January 18, 2006. With the ability to search and print/email archived news articles for alders I am requesting that staff discontinue this function.
