Amending the Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Madison and Dane County for creation of a City-County Health Department.
Body
WHEREAS, on March 27, 2007, the Common Council approved a resolution approving the Intergovernmental Agreement between Dane County and the City of Madison to complete the merger of the public health agencies of the County and the City, RES-07-00392; and

WHEREAS, said agreement was also approved by an ordinance adopted on the same date, ORD-07-0049; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to make a slight amendment in the Intergovernmental Agreement to clarify that the Board of Health under the agreement is the successor to the existing Board of Health and that the existing members of the Board will continue in their positions following the effective date of the merger.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

1. Sections VI., A., 1. and 2., of the Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Madison and Dane County for creation of a City-County Health Department are hereby amended to read:
VI. Organizational Structure.

A. Local Board of Health.

1. Creation. The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County ("BOHMDC") shall be the Board of Health for the Department and shall be the successor in interest to the Board created under the Intergovernmental Agreement, Phase I.

2. Composition, Terms. The BOHMDC shall consist of eight (8) members. The members of the BOHMDC appointed under the Intergovernmental Agreement, Phase I, and serving as of the effective date of this Agreement, shall continue to serve until the expiration of their term as set forth herein. Appointees who are not elected officials shall have a demonstrated interest or competence in the field of public health or community health and shall reflect the diversity of the community.
