Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has been fortunate to have exemplary employees, and;

WHEREAS, one of those, Reynold V. Peterson, is retiring after 26.82 years of employment, having worked under four mayors, three directors, and six different titles and has been a major reason for the success of the Madison Civic Center and Overture Center for the Arts, and;

WHEREAS, Reynold is an unsung hero, having distinguished himself in the financial and administrative management of the Civic Center and Overture Center, overseeing budgets that supported more than 66,000 events, and;

WHEREAS, in times of turmoil, Reynold has been a rock for the staff of the Civic Center and Overture Center, which numbered 16.5 employees in 1984 when he joined City staff and now exceeds 100 employees, and ;

WHEREAS, Reynold has been a frugal manager of finances, with revenue generated at the Civic Center of $1,293,501.85 in 1984 having grown now to $11,446,708.67 at Overture Center in 2005, and;

WHEREAS, Reynold has rendered extreme service by sitting through so many performances that his posterior has been permanently flattened, and;

WHEREAS, Reynold in his unassuming way, has bravely risked life and limb in service to divas, promoters and performers acting badly, and;

WHEREAS, Reynold continues to love the arts and the audiences that they serve,

Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Madison, Wisconsin, do hereby commend, honor and express appreciation to Reynold V. Peterson on the occasion of his retirement.
