This new one-time grant is for an e-hydraulic extraction tool valued at $15,510. There are no matching requirements for the acceptance of this grant. Ongoing expenses related to the use of this piece of equipment are minimal (routine maintenance, hydraulic fluid) and can be absorbed by the Fire Department operating budget.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the Ironman Foundation partnered to provide grant funding to first responder groups where Ironman events take place, and Wisconsin is one of the communities.
WHEREAS, the Madison Fire Department requested a Hurst e-hydraulic “jaws of life” extraction tool to allow firefighters to effectively extricate trapped victim with this battery-powered, state-of-the-art tool which requires no hoses or power source to perform rescues.
WHEREAS, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, Inc. ("Firehouse Subs") foundations have has agreed to fully fund this request for the Hurst eDraulics Package, totaling by granting the City $15,510; and
WHEREAS, The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Madison Fire Department will purchase the equipment and have it shipped to the Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the Firehouse Subs and Ironman foundations will celebrate the donation to the Fire Department at the upcoming Ironman event on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council approves the acceptance of a grant from Firehouse Subs in the amount of accepting of the Hurst eDraulics package valued at $15,510; and
