Commending, honoring, and expressing appreciation to Joanne Austin upon her retirement after 25 years of exemplary service with the City of Madison, including 21 years with Madison Parks.

WHEREAS, Joanne Austin began her career with the City of Madison in 2000, in the Planning Division's Community Services Section; and,


WHEREAS, Joanne joined Madison Parks more than 21 years ago and quickly became an indispensable part of the Parks Division team--beginning her Parks career at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center, later joining the payroll team, and ultimately serving as the Parks Customer Service Supervisor for the past 14 years; and

WHEREAS, in her role as Customer Service Supervisor, Joanne skillfully supervised staff and daily operations, supported front-line services at both the phones and front desk, and ensured smooth coordination of all public-facing customer interactions; and,

WHEREAS, Joanne oversaw and coordinated a variety of complex administrative and permitting processes including park shelter reservations, mooring and watercraft agreements, cross-country ski and dog park permits, and all other recreational and facility-use permits; and,

WHEREAS, Joanne also took on key administrative leadership responsibilities by administering contract routing, updating public resources, and ensuring consistency and clarity in all customer service materials and procedures; and,

WHEREAS, Joanne was known for her steady presence, encyclopedic institutional knowledge, and commitment to teamwork -- always ready to resolve customer concerns and support colleagues; and,

WHEREAS, through major systems transitions, new software implementations, and evolving community needs, Joanne remained adaptable and dedicated to maintaining Madison Parks' high standards of services; and,

WHEREAS, Joanne leaves behind a record of service and commitment that has meaningfully contributed to Madison Parks' customer service operations throughout her tenure...
