No appropriation required. There is no direct fiscal impact associated with the adoption of the plan. However, implementing specific recommendations within the plan will have fiscal impacts in the future and may require Common Council approval at that time.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison’s Comprehensive Plan adopted January 17, 2006 (Substitute Ordinance No. 02207) recommends the adoption of neighborhood plans for established residential neighborhoods within the City; and

WHEREAS, Truax Park Apartments Master Plan and Site Development Study provides additional and detailed recommendations regarding the future of the Truax Neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, The Community Development Authority Public Housing Long Range Planning Subcommittee, established by the Common Council, guided the preparation of the plan with input from an ad hoc committee, comprised of Public Housing Residents, a representatives of the Madison Area Technical College, the local alder, the Mayor’s Office, and CDA representatives; and

WHEREAS, the CDA solicited the input of local neighborhood associations, the business community and other interested stakeholders to inform and involve them; and

WHEREAS, JJR Consulting was retained by the CDA to develop this plan and did an excellent job of incorporating public input; and

WHEREAS, the Truax Park Apartments Master Plan and Site Development Study priority issues include: 1) For the first time in almost 40 years, the construction of new Public Housing, 2) the major renovation of existing Public Housing, 3) The construction of additional affordable housing to be economically integrated into this neighborhood; and
