Commending, honoring and expressing appreciation to William "Bill" Roberts for his 34 years of service to the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS Bill Roberts is leaving City employment on March 2, 2007 after 34 years of dedicated service to the City of Madison; and
WHEREAS Bill began work as a Planning Aid on May 14, 1973 and has progressed through the ranks to his current position as a Planner IV; and
WHEREAS he has held a leadership role and has coordinated and facilitated the review and approval of hundreds of development proposals, large and small, over the last 34 years, including, among the more significant projects:
- The Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center
- The Overture Center for the Arts
- Expansion of the Dane County Regional Airport
- The University Research Park
- The Siting of the MATC-Truax Campus
- The Nine Springs Environmental Corridor - "E-Way"
- Expansion of Meriter Hospital
- The Meriter Retirement Complex
- Redevelopment of "Block 89"
- Redevelopment of "Block 51"
- Expansion of Edgewood College
- Dane County Courthouse
- Dane County Public Safety Building
- Oakwood Village Retirement Community
- The American Center
- State Office Buildings in the Downtown
And UW Campus projects including:
- The Kohl Center
- Grainger Hall
- The Health Science Learning and Interdisciplinary Research Center
- The Fluno Center; and
WHEREAS he provided support to the Madison Metropolitan School District on annexations and residential development trends, the site selection of the James C. Wright Middle School and the pairing concept for the Franklin-Randall and Midvale-Lincoln Elementary School; and
WHEREAS he facilitated several neighborhood-initiated downzoning proposals located in the Tenney-Lapham, Brittingham-Vilas, University Heights, and Highlands Neighborhoods; and
