Title: Amending Section 5.13 of the Madison General Ordinances to specify that the fee for fingerprinting services shall be determined by the Chief of Police.

Fiscal Note
There is no fiscal impact associated specifically with eliminating the fingerprint fee from the ordinance and providing the Police Chief with the authority to set the fee.  However, the Police Department has indicated that the fee will be set  at $10.00, which will result in an estmated increase of $9,000 in General Fund Revenues.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  This ordinance deletes the current fee of $7.00 for each card of fingerprints and establishes that such fee will instead be determined by the Chief of Police.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
 
Section 5.13 of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
 
"5.13      FINGERPRINTING SERVICES. The Police Department is hereby authorized to make available to the public, fingerprinting services, although it is not required to so do. The fee for each card containing fingerprints shall be seven dollars ($7.00) determined by the Chief of Police."
