Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a revised cost sharing State/Muncipal Agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the project Mineral Point Road to High Point Road in 2026. The Surface Transportation Block Grant program awarded the City funds for 80% of construction costs (up to $4.6 million). The 2025 Adopted Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes $5.1 million in Non-General Fund GO Borrowing in 2026. Additional funds, if required, will be requested in the 2026 Capital Budget.

Body

The Engineering Division submitted an application for, and was awarded Federal funds under the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program.  The City was awarded funds for 80% of construction costs (up to $4,600,000). This amendment increases the possible Federal share of the costs up to $4,600,000 from the original $1,650,000.

 

The City of Madison is proposing to reconstruct Mineral Point Road from US Highway 12 (Beltline) to High Point Road.  The project will be constructed under a contract let by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).  A project Agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation is required to cover estimated construction costs. The proposed project is planned for construction in the years 2026.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for construction cost sharing for Mineral Point Road project (USH 12 to High Point Rd).
