Report of the Mayor submitting resident committee appointments.
Body
I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following committee appointments for introduction and adoption under suspension of the rules.
*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.
Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, "...provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment."
POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION
KEVIN GUNDLACH (10th A.D.) - appoint to a five-year term to the position of Adult City Resident. Mr. Gundlach is the President of the South Central Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO. He has served on several boards, including United Way of Dane County and the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin. Mr. Gundlach succeeds Craig Yapp.
TERM EXPIRES: 5-1-2022
TASK FORCE ON EQUITY IN MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT
*MATT GERDING, Maple Bluff - appoint to the position of Music Venue Property Owner.
Rationale: Mr. Gerding is the co-owner of the Majestic Theatre and Majestic Live, a promotion and booking agency. He controls the music calendar for both the Majestic and the Frequency. As such, he books more local hip-hop acts than any other property owner and incorporates local talent into these bookings.
Respectfully submitted,
