This work will be accomplished using available City Attorney staff resources.  Funds are available in the City Attorney's Office 2011 Operating budget to cover incidental costs associated with this action.

Authorizing the City Attorney to bring or join in legal proceedings challenging the legality of the passage of the Budget Repair Bill.
Body
Whereas, the Wisconsin Legislature has purported to pass Special Session Senate Bill 11; and
 
Whereas, serious questions exist as to whether the Bill was properly approved by the Legislature; and
 
Whereas, the Bill will significantly and negatively impact the City of Madison, it employees and residents.
 
Now, Therefore, be it resolved that the City Attorney is authorized to bring or join in legal proceedings that challenge the legality of the passage of Special Session Senate Bill 11; and
 
Be it further resolved, that such proceedings may be brought in the name of the City or in the name of any elected officials or employees of the City that agree to join as parties, or both.
