Fiscal Note
The proposed contract breaks down the City’s towing rate by tow category. The agreement includes a phased in rate increase for the most prevalent type of tows, peaktime towaways. Over the five years of the contract the rate will increase from the current rate, $32 per tow, to $42.50 per tow in the fifth year, a 33% increase over the life of the contract. The schedule below provides an overview of the increase over the five years of the contract.
Under the proposed contract, rates for other categories of tows will be modified in the first year and remain unchanged for the remainder of the agreement. The chart below provides a comparison of the current contract to the proposed contract in the first year of the agreement.
The budget for this contract is spread across agencies utilizing the service. The table below provides an overview of the current budget; the projected increase is factored into the 2015 projected amounts. Minor adjustments will be reflected in the 2016 Executive Budget to ensure funds are allocated to the appropriate agencies based on historical utilization.
