Amending the Master List of Street Names and Designations and amending the City Engineer’s Street Numbering Map, referred to in Section 10.34(1), Madison General Ordinances
Changing the location of existing Willow Drive from Goodnight Hall to Observatory Drive which has been constructed by the University of Wisconsin, and removing the segment of Willow Drive from Goodnight Hall to Elm Drive that was obliterated by the University of Wisconsin.
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council, by Resolution No. 12,459, adopted on March 9, 1967, approving the master list of existing street names and designations for the City of Madison; and
WHEREAS, per Sec. 10.34, Madison General Ordinances, the City Engineer is responsible for maintaining this street address numbers and street names and related records, including the City of Madison Official Map and databases; and
WHEREAS, the purpose for uniform street addresses is to enable emergency vehicles to respond quickly to calls, expedite postal and other delivery services, eliminate confusion, and to locate business
places and residences without difficulty or delay; and
WHEREAS, Secs. 10.34, Madison General Ordinances, require the City Engineer to maintain certain street numbering maps; and
WHEREAS, the City of Madison approved a conditional use application by the University of Wisconsin for the construction of a new Lakeshore Residence Hall and Food Service Facility located at 640 Elm Drive; and
WHEREAS, in conjunction with the construction and redevelopment by the University of Wisconsin as part of the Lakeshore Residence Hall and Food Service Facility project, the University of Wisconsin has completed a street relocation project reconfiguring a portion of Willow Drive west of Elm Drive to meet their development needs; and
