Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the first of three options to renew the lease for Metro Transit’s warehouse space at 2422 Pennsylvania Avenue. The resolution also authorizes the Transit General Manager to execute options two and three in future years. Funding for the contract is included in the 2021 operating budget. Amounts for future years of the contract will be included in the Agency’s budget requests.

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the option to renew the lease at 2422 Pennsylvania Avenue for continued use of warehouse space for Metro Transit for Option 1 (June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022) and authorizing the Transit General Manager or designee to execute Option 2 and Option 3 years if so desired. During the option years, the terms and conditions of the original lease apply, except monthly rent changes as spelled out in the lease.
Body
This lease has helped to free up space in Metro's overcrowded bus barn by providing a new location for the Building & Grounds unit staff, vehicles and equipment. Metro is able to park an additional 6 to 7 buses in the main garage as well as have additional space to maintain buses.
WHEREAS this lease has been very valuable to Metro Transit in providing much needed space for parking and maintenance; and
WHEREAS Metro Transit would like to continue this lease as allowed in Section 3. Option to Renew;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute the option to renew the lease at 2422 Pennsylvania Avenue for Option 1 (June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022) and authorizing the Transit General Manager or designee to execute Option 2 and Option 3 years if so desired.
