Fiscal Note

Savings of $2,500 are anticipated with implementation of the new financial services system.  No appropriation is required.

Title

This Resolution authorizes the signatories of the Treasurer and Clerk on checks issued by the City of Madison.  This Resolution replaces any previous resolution regarding signatories on checks.  There is a companion Ordinance, #22674, authorizing the signatories on checks to be the Clerk and Treasurer.  This resolution and that ordinance should be considered together so that, if adopted, the change is made consistently.

Body

WHEREAS, Wis. Stat. § 66.0607(3) requires that checks issued by the City of Madison must have the signatures of both the clerk and the treasurer;

WHEREAS, Wis. Stat. § 66.0607(3) provides that a City may by resolution designate that only the clerk and treasurer be the signatories on checks issued by the City of Madison; and

WHEREAS, the Common Council deems it to be advisable for this Municipality to limit checks issued by the City of Madison to two signatories, in an effort to save on the costs under the Tyler contract to add additional signatories.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:  Pursuant to the authority of Wis. Stat. § 66.0607(3) the City of Madison declares the City Clerk and Treasurer shall be the only two signatories on all checks issued by the City of Madison and this resolution shall replace any previous resolutions which addressed the signatories of checks issued by the City.
