Title

Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2023-33 Authorization to Accept Additional Funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention

Body

Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposes the acceptance of an additional from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) recently awarded PHMDC an additional $1,200 through the Communicable Disease Grant. The Communicable Disease program was first awarded this grant in 2019. This grant is used to reduce the burden of communicable disease, ensure and increase capacity to respond to communicable disease events, and to fund training to increase competencies around communicable disease issues. Additionally, this grant is used to follow up more extensively and completely on certain communicable disease outbreaks and reports as well as used to increase communicable disease awareness in the community. The Communicable Disease Grant is a major source of funding for the Communicable Disease program.

The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County previously approved Resolution #2022-35 authorizing the acceptance of $25,600 from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for the Communicable Disease program. PHMDC received an additional $1,200 from DHS, increasing the total amount to $26,800.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health Madison and Dane County authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to sign the agreement, accept and expend the funding, and increase the 2023 Public Health Budget by $1,200.
