Amending various sections of Chapter 34 to adopt the 2012 International Fire Code and update the Fire Code sections to correlate with the 2012 IFC.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: These changes amend the relevant fire code ordinance to adopt the 2012 International Fire Code. These changes also adopt the relevant code sections that have changed in the new International Fire Code.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
1. Subdivision (a) of Subsection (13) entitled “Adoption by Reference: State and National Codes” of Section 34.01 entitled “General Provisions” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
“(a) The codes in the 20092012 International Fire Code® and the Wisconsin Administrative Codes that are adopted by reference are the most current edition of the referenced code and any subsequent editions of the referenced codes.”
2. Subdivision (b) of Subsection (13) entitled “Adoption by Reference: State and National Codes” of Section 34.01 entitled “General Provisions” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
“(b) IFC. The International Fire Code® - 20092012, subject to the modifications specified in this chapter.”
3. Subsection (17) of Section 34.105 entitled “Licenses and Permits” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended by amending therein the following:
“Section 105.7-.14 Required construction permits”
4. The introductory paragraph of Subsection (4) of Section 34.307 entitled “License Required For Open Burning” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
“(4) IFC section 307.4.3 shall be replaced with the following language: Ooutdoor fireplaces and pits are bowls or pits designed for the holding or burning of wood and shall be allowed without a license, as long as the following conditions are met:”
