Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes the payment of $30,172.28 to contractor Capitol Underground ($10,571.53) and the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District ($19,600.75) for emergency repair of a sanitary sewer force main on the Mendota Mental Institute grounds. The Board of Public Works previously declared the repair a Public Works Emergency on May 8, 2024 (Legistar #83221). After City Engineering attempted to complete the repair, it was believed the break exceeded the City's capabilities. Capitol Underground completed the main sewer repair and the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District completed the wastewater control. The emergency is satisfied and closed with the work accepted as completed. Funding for the repair is available in the 2024 Sewer Utility Adopted Operating Budget. No additional appropriation is required.
