PREAMBLE
The City has prepared the plans and specifications for the intersection improvements to University Avenue and Ridge Street/Marshall Court.
The project on University Avenue includes the construction of an intersection pedestrian refuge area and traffic signals.
The project will provide a new safe crossing for pedestrians and bicycles across University Avenue and provide a controlled left turning movement from University Avenue to Ridge Street and Marshall Court. These improvements will prohibit vehicular left turns from Ridge Street and Marshall Court.
All of these improvements will benefit both the City and the Village by providing good safe pedestrian/bicycle crossing on University Avenue.
The agreements include construction cost sharing, traffic signal and street light operation and maintenance, snow removal of the island and crosswalk pavement maintenance.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the plans and specifications for intersection improvements to University Avenue and Ridge Street/Marshall Court are hereby approved, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into agreements with the Village of Shorewood Hills for intersection improvements to University Avenue and Ridge Street/Marshall Court.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works be and is hereby authorized to advertise and receive bids for the required public works contract.
