Title
Odana Hills Park Sanitary and Storm Sewer Upgrades
Body
City Engineering is planning to install a sanitary sewer and storm sewer in Odana Hills Park starting at the intersection Dearholt Road and Milward Drive and headed south extending into the park. This work in the Park is part of a larger street project Dearholt Road (Milward Drive to Odana Road). The project is planned to begin August/September.
The City needs to replace the City sanitary sewer in Odana Hills Park in order to provide sanitary service to the redevelopment of the Westgate Mall into an apartment development. Unfortunately, there are no other routes to install the sewer that do not impact Odana Hills Park so our plan is to upsize the sewer that already serves the Westgate Mall with a larger diameter sewer (10” diameter sewer being replaced with a 12” diameter sewer). The average depths of the sanitary sewer is 10’ deep.
This neighborhood has had historical stormwater flooding problems. The City needs to replace the 24” diameter storm sewer in he park with a 38” x 60” HERCP (48” diameter round equivalent) to help address flooding in the area. The storm sewer work will extend south to the pond.
Both the storm and sanitary sewer will impact the soccer fields. We have coordinated with Parks staff and events will be scheduled on the fields until end of July of this year until the sewer project is scheduled to begin. The soccer fields will be restored upon completion of the sewer work.
Tree Impacts: It does not appear that the project will directly impact any trees and care will be used to protect trees as necessary.
