No net cost to the City is anticipated. Costs for new signs and maintenance to be paid by the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital. New signs to be installed by UW under private contract. Ongoing maintenance and replacement by City paid by UW and VA.

Body
The UW Hospitals has hired a consultant to work with the City to develop and prepare a system of directional and way-finding signage for guiding patients and visitors to the UW Hospital and neighboring VA Hospital. This project was undertaken because of the importance of the UW and VA Hospitals and the generally recognized difficulty patients and visitors have in getting to these institutions. The UW has held several meetings and briefings with various stakeholder groups to get review and comment, including the district alderperson, the Joint West Campus Area Committee, and the Regent Neighborhood Association. This project is following the similar program done with the downtown way-finding system in the mid 1990's. Final review and approval is being done by the City Traffic Engineering Division to coordinate with established sign programs and requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifications for the UW Hospital and Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital way-finding signs are hereby approved; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the same entities for cost sharing and responsibilities related to installation and maintenance; and
