SUBSTITUTE - Accepting the Energy Task Force Report entitled "Building a Green Capital City" and referring the recommendations contained in the report to the Mayor's Office for consideration in future budgets.
Body
WHEREAS, the Mayor's Energy Task Force was created to help plan for our future energy needs; and
 
WHEREAS, the Energy Task Force was formed into two subcommittees, one committee dealing with Madison's long-term energy needs, developing a plan for energy supply and distribution, and looking to renewable and alternative sources of power for Madison's future, and the other committee to work to improve energy efficiencies and conservation in city facilities and look for ways to encourage private industries and residents to conserve, and develop demonstration projects for green building principals through public and private partnership; and
 
WHEREAS, the members of the Energy Task Force have been meeting since October, 2003; and
 
WHEREAS, the committee members have prepared and submitted their final report entitled "Building a Green Capital City" - A Blueprint for Madison's Sustainable Design and Energy Future;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council accept the report of the Energy Task Force and refer the recommendations contained in the report. to the Mayor's Office for consideration in future budgets.
