The total project cost is $529,210, with grant funding of $423,368 and City funding of $105,842 (G.O. borrowing of $98,000 and $7,842 of levy support) to meet the 20 percent match requirement. This project will be included in the Fire Department's 2010 Capital Budget and Operating Budget requests.

A grant application has been submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, DHS for the 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The requested grant budget is $529,210. If the grant is awarded the federal grant share would be 80 percent or $423,368 and the City share would be 20 per cent or $105,842. The grant application includes a Mobile Fire Training Center (which includes several training simulators ) for training of personnel , personal protective equipment and medical exams.
The Capital budget request includes City matching funding of $98,000:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City accept the 2009 Firefighters Assistance grant if awarded.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor, City Clerk and other necessary City officials are authorized to to execute necessary documents upon award.
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council approves the grant budget as awarded.
