Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the transfer and recreation of position #4449 from the IT department to the Mayor’s Office for the purpose of creating a Communication Coordinator. The full budgeted amount for salaries and benefits will be transferred from IT’s 2020 Adopting Operating Budget to the Mayor’s Office 2020 Adopted Operating Budget. No additional City appropriation is required.

Body
WHEREAS, the 2019 Adopted Operating Budget for Information Technology identified reclassifying an IT Specialist to a Citywide Public Information Officer (PIO) effective July 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rhodes-Conway was elected Mayor and began her term in April, 2019, and
WHEREAS, during the transition, the concept of the Citywide PIO was considered but not acted upon, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office has now concluded that this position will be most effective located in the Mayor’s Office, and
WHEREAS, creation of a new classification of Communications Coordinator in CG18, R12 is needed to properly classify the position, and
WHEREAS, recreating the current position as a Communications Coordinator within the Mayor’s Office would provide the desired reporting relationship and flexibility in filling the position;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, a new classification of Communications Coordinator is created in CG18, R12;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, vacant position #4449 of IT Specialist 3 is deleted and recreated in the Mayor’s Office operating budget as a 1.0 FTE Communications Coordinator, thereof;
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, the 2020 Adopted Operating Budget is amended to transfer $89,032 in salaries...
