The proposed resolution authorizes the City of Madison and Town of Middleton to enter into an agreement for the resurfacing of Meadow Road from Valley View Road to Mid Town Road for the cost sharing on the project. The estimated City cost is $75,000. Funding for the City portion of the project is available in Munis #15822. No additional appropriation is required.

Under the terms of the 2003 Cooperative Plan entered into by Madison and the Town of Middleton, and given attachments of adjoining lands under the terms of the Cooperative Plan, Meadow Road is a present and future boundary line of Madison and the Town of Middleton. The Town of Middleton has scheduled the resurfacing of Meadow Road from its intersections with Valley View Road to its intersection with Mid Town Road in 2026. A portion of the current Meadow Road right-of-way lies within the City of Madison. The existing road is approximately 22 feet wide. No change in pavement width is being proposed.
The Middleton Town Board has agreed to contract for the resurfacing project contingent upon the execution of a cost-sharing agreement between Madison and the Town of Middleton reflecting the shares of costs attributable to the improvements benefiting each respective municipality.
The basis for the cost-sharing is as follows: Madison shall reimburse the Town of Middleton for the costs of resurfacing the roadway (i.e. pulverizing and overlayment of asphalt, driveway aprons, pavement cores and base course preparation, drainage improvements, restoration, engineering) for that portion of the Project that is located in Madison.
