Title
Accepting a Public Storm Sewer Easement from the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System across a portion of the UW-Madison's property located at 821 W. Johnson Street.
Body
WHEREAS, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System ("UW") is the owner of the property on the UW-Madison campus located at 821 W. Johnson Street; and
WHEREAS, due to a steam tunnel relocation project, storm water drainage in the 800 block of W. Johnson Street is not sufficient, causing flooding of the street during heavy rain; and
WHEREAS, a connection can be made from the Johnson Street inlet/pipe to existing UW storm sewer facilities in vacated N. Murray Street Right-of-Way, which would allow water to drain into and through the UW storm sewer until it connects back into the City of Madison storm sewer; and
WHEREAS, the UW has requested that the connection of the Johnson Street Public Storm Sewer be made to the existing UW private storm sewer and consequently drain back into public storm sewer; and
WHEREAS, the UW has agreed to provide the Storm Sewer Easement at no cost to the City of Madison; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineering Division has reviewed and recommends the acceptance of the Easement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to accept from the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System, at no cost to the City of Madison, a Storm Sewer Easement as more particularly described below:
The location of this easement is the west 15 feet of the north 25 feet of vacated Murray Street located between Lot 1, Block 14 and Lot 5, Block 15, University Addition to Madison, in the City of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin.
