Information Presentation from Staff Regarding Use of Off-Road Bike Trails

The use of existing off-road bike trails in Madison Parks by electric bikes has become increasingly common. Along with the prevalence, bikes have also become increasingly powerful and often damage trails above and beyond typical wear and tear of standard mountain bikes.
Staff will provide an overview of the existing legal framework in Wisconsin for use of electric bikes, how existing City of Madison ordinances apply, and what has been done to date. The Parks Division seeks feedback and discussion from the Parks Long Range Planning Subcommittee on this issue.
