Authorizing an amendment of the Traffic Engineering 2005 Capital Budget to transfer $24,000 from TE Traffic Safety Infrastructure (Project #5, page 276) to the Traffic Engineering Building Improvement project (project #6, page 277) in support of the Sayle Street shop heating system repair project and awarding the public works contract for bids opened 7-15-05 for the Sayle Street building heating system repair project.
Body
WHEREAS, the 2005 Adopted Capital Budget includes a total of $325,750 ($250,000 in the TE capital budget, project #6, page 277 and $75,750 in the Parking Utility capital budget , project #4, page 283) in authorized expenditures for the Sayle Street building improvements and repairs; and

WHEREAS, the majority of funds are allocated for required major repairs of the building heating system based on the initial consultant estimate of $220,000 in order to complete the project; and

WHEREAS, the actual low bid for the project is $292,000, which exceeds the consultant estimate and funds budgeted by $72,000; and

WHEREAS, TE and the Parking Utility have indicated that providing heat for its field employees is a necessity; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council authorize additional expenditure of $24,000 or the Sayle Shop building heating system repair project; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certain projects in the TE 2005 adopted capital budget be amended as follows:

Project #6, "TE Building Improvements," page 277, Increase Account No. 810416 by $24,000
Project #5, "Traffic Safety Infrastructure," page 276, Decrease Account No. 810415 by $24,000; and
