Central Park Skate Park Rules of Operation

The construction of Madison's first skatepark is well underway. The project is approximately 35% complete, with the park's two major bowl features having been poured last week. Since the project's inception, the Madison Skatepark Fund (MSF) has been advocating for a destination skating facility within the city, and the skatepark design meets this criteria. As the park is scheduled to open in mid-August, the proposed skatepark rules are being presented to the Board of Park Commissioners for approval. Per the original intent of the facility, the rules limit access to users on skateboards, roller blades and roller skates. The Parks Division is aware there have been some requests to allow BMX bike access; allowing BMX bike access now may subject the skatepark to damage beyond what was originally anticipated. There may be opportunities in the future for an 'all-wheel' facility within the Parks system.
