Title
Designation of May 15-21, 2005 as Emergency Medical Services Week.
Body
WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and
WHEREAS, the firefighters and paramedics of the City of Madison Fire Department/Madison Fire Fighters Local 311 are ready to provide advanced life support care to all of those in need, 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury;and
WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators, trained bystanders, and others;and
WHEREAS, the members of the City of Madison Fire Department/Madison Fire Fighters Local 311 engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and accomplishment of our emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week;and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council designate May 15-21, 2005 as Emergency Medical Services Week; and
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED that the Madison Community is encouraged to express their appreciation to members of the City of Madison Fire Department and those who assist with providing emergency medical care for their dedication to the safety of those who live, work and play in the City of Madison.
