Title
Authorizing the Mayor, City Clerk and Chief of Police to accept an award from the State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance in the amount of up to $12,892 and to utilize these funds to purchase a livescan system to allow deployment of a livescan fingerprinting system to increase operational efficiency and flexibility.
Body
WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin seeks to improve the timeliness and accuracy of fingerprint submissions from local law enforcement agencies to the Wisconsin Department of Justice (WI-DOJ), Crime Information Bureaus; and,
WHEREAS, the State Office of Justice Assistance has obtained Federal and State funding to provide local law enforcement agencies with livescan fingerprinting systems to meet this objective; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Police Department is a high volume contributor to the State's criminal history database; and
WHEREAS, the livescan system will aid in the processing of apprehended individuals at district locations, and in the field as necessary.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Madison, through the Police Department, is authorized to apply for and accept an award from the State of Wisconsin, Office of Justice Assistance for up to $12,892.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these funds will be used to purchase a livescan fingerprinting system
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Police Department is authorized to establish and/or maintain accounts as required for the administration of the grant funds.
