Title
Approving City participation in a program to sell and distribute all-hazards radios.
Body
Dane County Emergency Management has purchased All-Hazard Radios (weather radios) at cost. The radio receives broadcasts from the National Weather Service. It is another source of providing rapid warning to the community. Information as to immediate flood or tornado related events and any other localized hazard can be immediately shared thorough this warning system.
This radio is programmable and can be set up to specific event types and locations by the user. This programmable feature, battery backup and the estimated price of approximately $22 each makes this a very desirable consumer purchase. Each household can purchase no more than two radios.
Dane County Emergency Management has requested the City of Madison to participate in the distribution of all-hazards radios to the community. Fire Administration and the City Clerk's office would sell these radios for a period of 90 days from the date of delivery of the radios. RSVP has agreed to staff a sales event at all fire stations from 9:00 a.m until noon on Saturday, April 26.
