Acknowledging and commemorating Sylvia Moss on her retirement after more than 33 years of dedicated service as a City employee.
Body
WHEREAS Sylvia Moss began her service to the City of Madison in the Treasurer’s Office on July 24, 1978, was promoted to a Personnel Department position in February, 1979, completing her City service as Human Resources Analyst, and will begin a happy retirement in December, 2011; and
WHEREAS in more than 33 years of employment she served with seven Personnel/Human Resources Directors under six mayors, worked with City department managers in selection and hiring practices and represented the City in job fairs and outreach activities; and
WHEREAS Sylvia provided new employee orientation to the great majority of City employees since 1983, assuring thorough introduction to benefits and a positive first work experience; and
WHEREAS Sylvia’s dedication and commitment to her work have earned the respect of those who have worked with her; and
WHEREAS she has provided order and sequence where none may have seemed apparent and has brought gentle good humor and understanding to discussions; and
WHEREAS Sylvia has been available to assist others as needed, including the Madison Fire Department in their selection processes, the Madison Parks Department as a Food Vendor Evaluator, and participants in each phase of employment and selection processes; and
WHEREAS she has been committed to the ideals of the Minority Affairs Committee, working to establish goals which addressed the issues and concerns of racial and ethnic minority employees of the City from the inception of the Committee in 1980 to the present, in addition to being a member of the Women’s Issues Committee; and
WHEREAS she served as an Employee Assistance Program facilitator for 19 years; and
